Does your child have a wiggly baby tooth that’s bound to fall out any day now? It’s a good idea to be prepared with some Tooth Fairy trivia! This friendly mythical sprite can help make losing a tooth less scary and strange for your little one and more magical and fun. Here are seven fun bits of trivia about the Tooth Fairy to delight your child with as their baby teeth are gradually replaced by their permanent pearly whites.

1.) The Tooth Fairy Is Sometimes a Mouse

In the US, the Tooth Fairy is widely thought of as a small, winged, and usually sparkly female that typically resembles Tinker Bell. However, the Tooth Fairy looks quite different in other parts of the world! In Spain, France, French-speaking countries, and many other places, the Tooth Fairy is a friendly, tooth-loving mouse called “La Petite Souris” or “Ratóncito Pérez.”

2.) The Tooth Fairy Is 113 Years Old

Your little one may be surprised to hear that the Tooth Fairy is over 100 years old! As an adult, you may also be surprised to hear her age, but for the opposite reasons. While 100 years may seem like forever for a child, the Tooth Fairy is actually quite young compared to beings like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny.

3.) She Keeps Up with the Stock Market

Another fact about the Tooth Fairy that may interest you more than your child is that she seems to stay current with the stock market. Dental insurance company Delta Dental has found that the Tooth Fairy’s rates change depending on how the stock market is doing.

4.) The Tooth Fairy Visits About 20 Times

You can tell your child that as long as they keep their teeth healthy and shiny, they can easily expect to have the Tooth Fairy visit them about 20 times! Children have 20 baby teeth that will be replaced by 32 permanent teeth.

5.) She Collects A LOT of Teeth

According to research, the Tooth Fairy collects about 300,000 baby teeth… every night! She’s very much like Santa Claus in her ability to travel the entire world in a single night and leave gifts for children without waking them.

6.) What Does She Do with All Those Teeth?

It’s commonly believed that the Tooth Fairy uses the baby teeth she collects to build her castle and houses for other fairies. That’s why she only wants shiny teeth with no cavities!

7.) The Tooth Fairy Cares About Great Oral Health

Parents can team up with the Tooth Fairy to help encourage kids to keep their smiles healthy. The Tooth Fairy may reward children for great brushing and flossing or good behavior at the dentist’s office. Plus, instead of money, she may give out fun-flavored floss or toothpastes, new toothbrushes, or other dental products that will make oral healthcare more fun!

The Tooth Fairy is a great way to infuse some childhood magic into your little one’s life as they grow up. She can even help teach them lifelong lessons about dental health!
